Problem with easy climber elevator

elevator was installed in august 2018. i was impressed with the installer kenny cloughley from harrisonville mo area. loved it until a month ago as it got a few inches from floor it just dropped and the door would not open, called 911 and fire department was dispatched to my home. they were on the phone with mike b in harrisonville who talked them through opening the door. he thought the problem was with the limit switch which he had them install a small thin metal washer under the limit switch. in testing it seemed to work fine, BUT now a month later it happened again but i was testing the operation before i got on it and i heard it FALL at about the same point. what is the permanent fix so i can again trust my elevator that i thought i loved.

Easy Climber - Sales Representative Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I saw an add for affordable home elevators and decided to call. My husband is a quadriplegic and we are doing a complete remodel of a property we bought, gutted to the studs.

I asked the rep to please just giving me pricing. They wanted to schedule someone to come out to make sure it could be installed. I explained the house is an empty shell that it could be easily installed any where. They ended with sending a DVD that would have pricing and more info.

They proceeding to call and harrass me on a regular basis. Pricing was not in the DVD. By the 5th phone call I told the rep to never call again if he couldnt give me a price. On top of my husband being paralyzed we own and operate two businesses, he deals with extreme nerve pain and often doesn't get much sleep.

Early one morning my phone starting going off, I let it go to voice mail. They proceeded to call 3 more times, I started to worry it was an emergency so I answered.

The rep got a bunch chewing he will never forget. Rude and terrible customer service!

Notice, this is not a customer. The “if it bleeds, it leads” story, number one complaint, the worst dirt available DOES NOT NOW, NOR EVER DID, OWN AN EASY CLIMBER ELEVATOR. Just filthy business practices, misleading and filthy, just saying

I had the same experience as reviewer #1. And agree with #2.

Terrible experience from the initial call...why would I then want someone to come to my house,

Why would any reasonable person deal with a company like this.

Also, beware, easy climber has their own private review sight.

The reviews are glowing, especially

Compared to independent reviewers.

This company should be plastered all over the internet to protect those who may be vulnerable...I did on my pages

I agree-

I Agree. I called for pricing and got the runaround.

All I wanted was a ballpark.

Told the young man to cut to the chase and he said he wanted to send someone to my home...I told him absolutely not. He was not very nice at all.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Any time a company will not give you a price over the phone for their product, should be a HUGE RED FLAG ALERT!!!

The ONLY reason for this is so they can send a salesperson out to your home or business and push you into purchasing at a VERY HIGHLY INFLATED PRICE. Most of which is the salespersons commission.

A perfect example is the Kirby Vacuum Co. A beautiful product but they will NOT quote prices but for a salesperson to come to your home. The reason?

This is how they have chosen to market their product. It's suggested retail may be $1799, the sales person will always start at $2199 + so there is room for negotiating without hurting the commission, and all the while knowing that they only have a bit over $400 in the whole thing.(distributor cost)

It's a terrible thing because these awesome products (elevator lift), can help so many people in need, but the harassment is just not worth it.

Just put a darn price on your product and let us consumers decide for ourselves if we can afford it. Then we will contact the company to arrange for purchase and installation, and at that time you can give us your pitch on how good your product is.

I use to think car salesmen were the worst, but at least they tell you a price and don't keep calling you at all hours when you say NO THANKS!!!!!

Easy Climber - Customer Care Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I filled out the online info. Received a call within minutes, but the employee refused to tell me prices.

Stating that they were not able to discuss prices since it varied a lot. Okay, give me an average cost just for the equipment. No. I set up an appointment to have a technician out to the house for the purpose of getting accurate pricing.

Two days before they were supposed to come out, i called customer service to ask about pricing again. They asked if my wife would be at the appointment. I said no as she is out of town with a family emergency. They asked if her name was on the mortgage.

I said no. They said okay, the tech will give you prices when they arrive and assess the home. By now im quite pissed off at their lack of professional courtesy and i hung up the phone. The tech didnt show.

The company didnt call. I called the evening of the date of the appointment to find out what was going on. The lady on the other end talked circles until i said for a third time, the tech didnt show And no one called to reschedule. She then told me that the last time i called the operator told me that he was canceling the appointment since my wife wouldnt be there.

I said she doesnt have be here as her name isnt on any paperwork for this property, And she isnt in town. The lady was definitely angry about this and began to tell me that my had the right to...i cut her off and told her that my wife out of town with an unkown return date on a family emergency. The tryed to repeat what she started. I told her to *** off and hung up.

A day later i got two calls from the company asking me to schedule a time for a tech to come out. I relayed what was already done and said...both times, on both calls. ....as it seems that the phone techs CAN NOT ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS as the web page clearly states in multiple areas, i am livid with this companies policy on married couples(even if they are legally separated and one is not on the paperwork for the home where an elevator is to be installed) Both needing to be present for the technician to be allowed to show up. They dont relay information about customers internally.

They dont answer questions well if at all, and cant tell you prices over the phone....im sure there is one person that is Not a total db in that company..somewhere. By the way: for a two story pre existing home, the cost for an easy climber elevator is between 26000 and 32000.

I did call as my husband is disabled.. NOT professional.

I was almost in tears when i got off the phone. NO ONE SHOULD deal with these jerks.. found out from a poor friend it was over 20,000 bottom price and a battery..

COMPLAINTS on it from the people she knew who had one.. SO NEVER call me again, JERKS!

This company sounds like they operate like "Tin men" from years ago. They want to close the deal on the first visit.

The chances of closing the sale go down by at least 50% if they don't sell you on the first visit. They won't show up if one of the "decision makers" isn't there. The sales people call that a "one legger" appointment as it gives you an excuse to not sign up that day.

The sales people, they are not the technicians only care about the sale.

They'll offer price drops if you dig in, but be prepared for a long night. basically you just invited a car salesperson into your home. Sears and numerous other companies use high pressure tactics to get you to sign the paperwork. Just remember, you have a 3 day cooling of/right of rescission in most states.

FYI, most companies margins allow for a 40-50% price reduction if you play hardball. Yes, they mark up their products that much!

Here is why they cancelled your appointment due to your wife (spouse) not being present for the presentation.

In sales, particularly "in-home" sales, NOT having a spouse present is the #1 excuse for NOT purchasing a product, that CANNOT be overcome by a sales person. Although some may still beat you down until you buy, they know that there is at least a 98% chance that you will "cancel" the transaction within your 3 day (72hrs) legal right to do so.

Yes, I'm not sure about all states, but most have a "3 day right to cancel" any transaction made in your home over a specific amount.

this will vary but is usually from $100 to $500.

Check your local FTC laws to be sure.

So this is why they (the company your trying to do business with), does not want to waste their precious time showing you their product. Hope this helps!

REMEMBER PEOPLE........ If someone is asking you personal questions that you don't care to answer, just so you can inquire about a product or service, then I can assure you that you probably shouldn't be dealing with them. I have had experiences like this and just go somewhere else.

Only 1 time have I been told, "it's ok if you don't want to give that info, we are still happy to help you". And I about fell out of my seat. So PLEASE, don't be afraid to say no and take your business somewhere else.

And YES, there is ALWAYS somewhere else. Hope this helps someone.

Whoever designed this device should be FIRED!. It is virtually impossible to replace the battery without damaging the device itself. Then, if you get another device, you have to remove most of the lining of the elevator car in order to reach a "learn" button that is virtually on the floor of the car in order to get the device to work with the elevator car. Very frustrating.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought the elevator. Just after the warranty ended (1 year), the elevator had problems. The repair person that I had to get was over 500 miles away. He said that the problem I had should have been fixed by the installers as the problem was known and there was a fix at the time my elevator was installed. It cost me $600.00. Now it is now working again as I can't seem to get batteries that are needed. Ordered over 1 month ago, and no batteries yet. Have called multiple times and no call back. Got hung up on when called the sales line. another time they were going to transfer me to the right department, and then did not. Gave me the "number" for the department. It turns out it was the number for the phone company information. This company is a scam in my opinion. My elevator, which is used mainly on weekends, has not operated on a reliable basis since before Christmas.

We purchased our elevator about 3 years ago. Overall, it has functioned pretty well.

In order to get service, someone would have to drive over 500 miles to get to us. I have had to do many of the repairs myself (78 yr old female). The one thing that really exasperates me is the recall button. We have had to replace both of them twice.

Whoever designed these buttons should be fired.

It is virtually impossible to remove and replace the batteries without damaging the device itself. Then, if you get another device, you have to remove virtually all of the interior of the elevator to try to reach a "learn" button, that is located just off the floor of the elevator car interior.

The switch keys have both been broken in the switch. Called all the numbers and then the website email request for help. It has been several weeks of calling and leaving messages. Not a single reply. Now the chair stops midway and won't move. Later it will decide to work again. Calls for help or service are no different. Not a single reply. Buyer be aware you will be on your own for maintenance and repairs.

Easy Climber Stair Lift - Faulty Equipment - Do Not Purchase

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If I were you I would not purchase this product. My parents (senior citizens) purchased the Easy Climber stair lift paid cash. It worked for two months. After constantly calling my mom told me what happened as she did not receive a call back. I called and spoke to a Sara Miller who was suppose to be the account manager. Never received a call back. Called again and was forwarded to another person and it continued as we were transferred to several different people. Still no response. May I add, my mother just had a triple heart by-pass surgery and was not well enough to help my father who was in need of the stair lift. Constantly continuing to call, threatened to call an attorney. Then we were finally told, someone will be there the week of Christmas to fix it. Guess what as of today, have not heard from anyone from Easy Climber and they did not fix the problem for my parents. I am to believe this is a scam. Protect yourself and your family from purchasing this product as it is no good. They take your money and then disappear. My parents paid case almost 6K and no response. They should feel a shame as they ripped off seniors who work hard for their money and to deliver a product that is faulty. We are seeking to sue the company for the faulty equipment. Just be careful. Very disappointed.

I bought the easy climber with a lifetime warranty. Now I need service and am told that that the dealer went out of business and the manufacturer will not honor the warranty.

I am getting the run around trying to find someone to repair it. DON/T BUY AN EASY CLIMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guest

Most credit card companies will handle disputes such as this and get your money back. They have the resources needed to accomplish this.

I've had Visa get large purchases refunded. All I had to do was contact them and give them the details.

Guest

My parents purchased the Easyclimber stairlift and encountered the exact problems you had. Never worked and no return phone calls.

My parents told them they wouldn't pay the balance until it worked. Unfortunately, they had my parents credit card info so they just charged their card for the full amount. The stairlift has NEVER worked.

Unfortunately for them, my husband is an attorney and is going after them. I wish you the best of luck.

Seniors beware deceptive marketing strategy

I contacted Easy Climber and set up an in-home estimate. The estimator was Joseph Tobey. He came into my house and took note of the nick nacks. He took measurements and proceeded to tell me that the estimate and video could take up to 90 minutes. I told him I have seen the video on utube and do not wish to watch it again. I am interested in the written estimate and product information. The estimator said that is would cost 17 thousand dollars to install the easy climber in my house. I said what There are only 14 steps in the house and it is an easy install(I have other estimates for under 5k). Again I asked him for the written estimate. He refused citing that my husband was not there to watch his sales pressur presentation He was *** and way too comfortable in my house. I told the jerk to get out of my house and leave. I called the company and they simply do not give a damn. This is deceptive marketing and selling practices BEWARE!

This is the weirdest business model. They want all your information and refuse to provide any information when learn that we are installing in new-build.

2 months and 3 attempts to get assistance without any success. They can immediately see "you've called before" but somehow unable to transfer to "new construction". Put on hold for over 20minutes because supposedly "transferring to my supervisor". Argumentative and bizarre.

That is even before spending any money with them, when we are free to leave. After reading the reviews here and seeing how similar they are to our experience, it's clear this company is a bad option.

One third down upon signing the contract in April 2018. We were not in a rush and had some medical matters to attend to. Paid second deposit of another $12,000 in January 2019 and asked to get an installer lined We have gotten repeated excuses from two schedulers, both claiming the installation contractors were super busy and Aging in Home was trying to get a specific time 2 months have gone by and the last excuse was the company was having 'permit issues' in Nevada due to the nature of an elevator installed in the home I did some checking and found that the NV contractor license board and more specifically the powers that be that deal with elevator permits and codes had not given the greenlight for these elevators to be installed in NV That connected some dots that lead to me finding this page with 4 dozen scathing comments Has anyone had an EZ climber elevator installed in Reno NV and if so maybe you could tell me what you discovered in your pursuit of this install
